GradeViews Privacy Disclosure

Version 2.0 — updated September 30, 2026

Your documents are never stored

Photos and PDFs you upload are read once to pull out grades, topics, and dates — then discarded. We never save the image or file itself, anywhere. The reading of a page, not the page itself, is kept on our server so a retried upload isn't read twice, and deleted within a day.

What we do keep

Only the extracted school info: class names, teacher names, grades, assignments, attendance, teacher comments, the school's name, curriculum topics, and upcoming dates — plus the child's first name, grade level, school type, and state you entered, your own name and email from your account, the record that you agreed to the terms and answered the AI question (with the date), your weekly-email choice, a count of your uploads and plans each day to enforce the daily limits, and short notes about uploads that fail. We deliberately don't keep full legal names from documents: the name on the page routes the upload to the right child, then the first name you chose replaces it. If the page prints a school student ID we keep that number — it is the surest way to tell one sibling's page from another's.

Where it lives

Your family's data is stored with Supabase in a US database (us-east-2). Only your account — and family members you explicitly invite — can read it, apart from a small number of GradeViews administrators, who can see account details, such as your email and each child's first name, grade level and state, to give support. A copy is kept on your own device so the app opens fast. The website is served by Vercel; our mobile apps carry their files inside the app itself. On the website, a founding membership is paid through Stripe, which takes your card details directly (they never reach us), and the website's typefaces load from Google Fonts, which sees the request like any web server.

When you buy in the app

Plans and founding memberships bought in the app are paid through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple takes the payment under its own privacy policy; your card details and your Apple Account details never reach us. We use RevenueCat to keep track of App Store purchases. RevenueCat holds your purchase history — which plan or membership, and when it started, renewed or ended — and the App Store's transaction ids, filed under an id that is your GradeViews account id. From that purchase history, RevenueCat also gives us reports on purchases. It never receives your name, your email, your children's information or your grades. RevenueCat also receives the technical details every app request carries: the app version, the device's system version and language setting, and the network address. The app also keeps a note on this device of which plan your account has and when it ends, so it still opens when you're offline.

AI processing

GradeViews uses Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, in two ways. Documents you upload are sent to Anthropic to be read. They can include your child's name, school, classes and grades. To write study plans and insights, we send your child's first name, grade and state, classes, marks and topics, assignment names and due dates, and what you tell us about your child. Anthropic processes this to answer us and does not use it to train its models. We ask your permission once, as a separate choice with its own Agree, before anything is sent. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile › Privacy & data › Smart Review; while it is off, nothing is sent to Anthropic: grades are typed in by hand and plans are general, without AI.

Weekly emails stay light

The Monday summary mentions upcoming items and missing-assignment counts — never actual grades — so nothing sensitive sits in an inbox. Emails are delivered via Resend.

If you send us feedback

Sending feedback from the bug button at the top of a screen attaches a picture of the screen you were on — which usually shows your child's first name and marks — along with your note and the email on your account. Nothing is captured unless you send it. The GradeViews team can read it to fix what you reported, and it is deleted with your account.

If an upload fails

When an upload fails, the app records what went wrong — an error code, short technical details and the time — with your account id, so we can find the cause if you ask for help. These notes never include the file, its name, or your child's school information. The GradeViews team can read them, and they are deleted with your account.

How long we keep it, and deletion

Everything about your children is kept only while your account exists. "Delete my account" in Profile erases your account and every child's data immediately, and there is no grace window to bring it back. It also removes the family-sharing invitations you sent, your notification sign-ups, any feedback you sent us, the notes about uploads that failed, the record that you agreed to the terms, your weekly-email choice, your daily upload and plan counts, and the record of which weeks an email or a ping went to you. Deleting your account does not cancel a plan bought through Apple: cancel it in your Apple Account settings first, or Apple will keep billing you. One copy exists outside the live database: a disaster-recovery backup on a company machine, which holds each night's snapshot for up to 35 days and then deletes it. Four things stay, none holding school information: a count of how much AI processing was done, kept for our own costs with your account no longer named on it; your email if you joined the founding list on our website; if you bought a founding membership on our website, the record that a payment was made — the amount, the date and the email address it was bought with — because a payment can still be disputed after the account is gone, and we have to account for the tax (if you claimed that payment with this account, deleting the account erases that email from the record); and any record that someone on our team used the admin tools on your account — which action and when, with your account no longer named on it — because a record an administrator could erase by deleting an account would be no record at all. If another parent invited you to share a child, their invitation holds the address they typed and sits in their account, so deleting yours does not reach it. Ask us at help@gradeviews.com and we delete those too. RevenueCat keeps the record of your App Store purchases — which plan, and when it started, renewed or ended — under your old account id, because Apple's developer agreement requires us to keep records of App Store transactions. It holds no name, email or school information. "Download my data" gives you a full copy first.

Children's information

GradeViews is used by parents and guardians; children do not create accounts and we collect nothing from them directly. Everything about a child comes from you, and you can remove it at any time.

No ads, no selling, no trackers

We show no ads, sell no data, and run no analytics of how you use the app and no advertising trackers. The only companies that touch your data are the ones named in this disclosure. Each company that handles your data for us — Supabase (storage), Anthropic (AI), Vercel (website), Resend (email) and RevenueCat (App Store purchase records) — is bound by a data-processing agreement to keep it confidential and secure and to use it only to provide its service to us, which gives your data the same protection with them as this disclosure describes. Apple (App Store purchases) and Stripe (website payments) handle payments under their own privacy policies, as Google does for the website's typefaces, and Vercel and Resend keep their own service logs under theirs.

Estimates, not official records

Grades, averages, and projections in GradeViews are estimates built from the documents you upload. They are not an official school record and can differ from the school's own portal — newer entries, grade weighting, or dropped scores all cause drift. Always confirm official grades with your school.
